Some of you may have heard about Fresh Hope Patterns before, as we have received tremendous support from “Homespun” magazine and many craft retailers around Australia since we began. To refresh your memory and introduce ourselves to newcomers, let us share the story of Fresh Hope Patterns with you. In July 1999, Karen and John Bartlett founded Fresh Hope, which is the only drug and alcohol rehabilitation program in Queensland that allows mums to keep their children with them while they go through the 12 month rehab program. (See “What is Fresh Hope?” page for more on the program.) After hearing about Fresh Hope, well known craft designer, Leanne May of ‘Candlelight Creations’, was so impressed with the impact the program was having on women’s lives, that she wanted to find a way to help. And Fresh Hope Patterns was born! Fresh Hope Patterns is a unique concept put in place as an ongoing fund raising mechanism to help with not only the daily running costs of the Fresh Hope Centre, but hopefully to contribute to its expansion. Craft designers from all over Australia have generously donated craft designs to be marketed under the Fresh Hope Patterns banner and since almost every part of production is carried out by volunteers, most of the profits from the sale of each pattern can go towards keeping the vision of Fresh Hope alive and growing! Since the thing that sets Fresh Hope apart from other programs is it’s commitment to children, it seemed appropriate that the Fresh Hope Patterns be child-orientated, too. So far, we have quilts, a great tote bag, a fun and funky tablecloth, a cute doll and a baby sampler in the range, with many more fantastic pattern ideas on the drawing board! So, when you purchase a Fresh Hope Pattern, not only will you have hours of enjoyment creating the project, you will know that you have helped make someone else’s life better by helping the Fresh Hope program offer mums and their children a second chance at an addiction-free life. Thank you!! And a special HUGE “Thank You!” to the designers who have generously donated their time and creativity to make the Fresh Hope Patterns dream a reality! So, now that you know a little about us, we hope you’ll pop back regularly to enjoy our ever-growing range of patterns, as well as enjoying updates and news about Fresh Hope. If you’d like to know more about Fresh Hope Patterns. drop us an email to tell us what you thought of the patterns or site, ask questions, give suggestions for future pattern ideas, or just to say hello! We’d love to hear from you! Enjoy a stroll through the web site! |
